KARACHI: Team Zone II emerged as the winner of K-Electric’s U-19 Tournament here at the Rashid Latif Cricket Academy when they beat Zone-V outfit in the final which proved to be a thrilling contest.

Man of the match and man of the tournament was awarded to Mehmood Ali of Team Zone II while best batsman’s award was given to Salman Khan of Zone V. The tournament was organized by K-Electric in collaboration with ‘I AM Karachi’ and Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA).

A closing ceremony was held at the academy in which chief guest Usama Qureshi, chief marketing officer K-Electric, presented the winner’s trophy to Zone II as well as a prizemoney of Rs 100,000 whereas runners-up Zone V received a cash prizes of Rs 50,000.

Speaking on the occasion, Usama said: “I would like to convey my heartiest felicitation to the winning team as well as all other participating teams who displayed great sportsmanship throughout this tournament. Our objective in arranging such tournaments is to create a healthy environment and provide a platform to the youth of this city to put their exceptional talent at display in the field of sports.”

A total of eight teams participated in this tournament. That included one team each from all seven zones of Karachi and one team (I am Karachi XI) nominated by KCCA.
