KARACHI: The 72-inch diameter pipeline at the Dhabeji supplying water to Karachi burst on Tuesday evening.

According to a Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) notification, Dhebeji, Gharo, Pipri, Hub and NEK pumping houses experienced a power breakdown at 8pm on Tuesday that contributed towards the damage.

“The build-up of back pressure resulted in the bursting of the pipeline and there would be no supply of water to the city for 72 hours,” the notification read.

Meanwhile, Water Board chairman Hashim Raza Zaidi has also notified the chief minister and other government officials regarding the major breakdown.
