SAHIWAL: A cart pusher was crushed to death by a bus at Pakpattan Chowk on Friday.

Manzoor Ahmed, 24, a resident of Manzoor Colony, was crossing the roundabout when the bus, coming from the wrong direction, ran him over, killing him on the spot.

The cart pushers and surrounding people held a protest and blocked GT Road for three hours by placing the body on it. They damaged the bus as well but the bus driver and the conductor succeeded in escaping from the scene.

The protest ended when Ghala Mandi police assured the protesters of action against the driver and registered a case against him.

CONVICTED: Anti-Corruption Special Judge Zafar Iqbal Naeem convicted Sub-Inspector Sakhawat Ali and Assistant Sub-Inspector Mansib of Fateh Sher police station in a corruption case.

The police officers were awarded three years imprisonment and Rs25,000 fine each.
