Unruly lawyers

Published April 25, 2015

LAWYERS in Peshawar called for a two-day strike because a bomb was defused by the police in front of a senior lawyer’s house. While our justice system faces delays of many decades for a common man to get justice or even for this to conclude, our lawyers cause even further delays.

By protesting for two days, the lawyers have delayed countless cases, wasted man-hours, and caused misery. They have also confused the local police, who have risked their precious lives to save a senior lawyer from disaster.

Instead of being thanked, they are facing strike calls from lawyers in Peshawar. Should the police not defuse any bombs left at lawyers’ houses in the future?

They lawyers are considered professional people and they demand respect from the public. But here in Peshawar, the lawyers have put their entire community to shame by acting in an unprofessional manner. While those terrorists responsible for the bomb wanted to terrorise the people of Peshawar and the bomb was defused by the police, the lawyers in Peshawar have caused unnecessary disruption and delay.

I, therefore, request the relevant authorities to take action against all such unprofessional lawyers who have called for a strike. Their licences should be cancelled.

Any bar or organisation that was involved in this call for strike should be disbanded. Truly professional lawyers and judges should take action against these criminals who have damaged the reputation of their community.
