MUZAFFARGARH: A Dubai-based charity has decided to extend its programme to improve education for girls in four districts of south Punjab in partnership with the Punjab government and local and international non-governmental organisations.

This was stated by representatives of Dubai Cares at a briefing here. The discussion was attended by education and district officers of Multan, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Idara-i-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA) and Dubai Cares representatives led by Tariq Muhammad Saleh Al Gurg.

Dubai Cares partnered with the UK’s Oxfam and ITA in 2008 for its first project, titled ‘Enhancing Girls Enrolment in Remote Areas of Pakistan in South Punjab’. It extended its support to ITA for an emergency programme, ‘Enhancement of Girls Enrolment and Retention in Flood Affected Areas’ in 2013 and upon completion, it resolved to expand its footprint across Pakistan with this third ongoing partner programme, ‘Improving learning outcomes, enrolment and transitions from ECE to primary education especially for girls and vulnerable groups in Pakistan’.

‘Teachers Without Frontiers’ is a professional development programme under the third phase of the Dubai Cares programme to empower teachers particularly in remote areas through expansion of their knowledge, skills and approaches via a wide range of innovative learning opportunities.
