LAHORE: Three-year-old bay filly Melsi extended her winning streak to make it four triumphs on the trot when she landed the Pakistan Cup during the 30th Lahore Winter Meeting at the Racecourse here on Saturday.

Melsi, owned by Sohrab Khan, came home nine lengths in the event run over 1,400 metres to finish ahead of chestnut mare Winning Step with bay filly Desert Rose, who failed to quicken up in the straight, ending third, another two lengths back. Dark-bay mare Winning Moment completed the frame half-a-length further away.

Melsi was the 15 to 100 favourite of the five runners sent to post-ward and proved the best in a small field of five runners. She was steered by jockey Aamir Pervez, who later rode home in a runaway style of victory with chestnut horse Veer in the Al Safer Plate run over 1,200 metres to complete his double to share the day’s honours with the champion trainer Tauqir Ahmed who saddled two winners in chestnut filly Lady Extempore and colt Nambardar in the third and fourth race, respectively.
