LAHORE: The Met department on Wednesday forecast yet another spell of widespread rain of moderate to heavy intensity in the country from Saturday to Monday.

It had earlier forecast scattered rain of light to moderate intensity in the next 36 to 48 hours.

According to the latest forecast, scattered rain with thunderstorm is expected in northeast Balochistan (Quetta, Zhob, Kalat divisions), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Malakand, Hazara, Mardan, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan divisions), Islamabad, north Punjab (Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad divisions), Fata (Khyber, Kurram, Orakzai, Mohmand, Bajaur, Waziristan agencies), Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, while at isolated places in upper Sindh (Sukkur, Larkana divisions) on Thursday and Friday.

Widespread rain/thunderstorm is expected in Balochistan (Quetta, Zhob, Kalat, Makran, Sibi, Naseerabad divisions) with isolated heavy falls in Quetta, Zhob and Kalat divisions from Saturday to Monday (morning).

Widespread rain/thunderstorm is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan divisions), Fata (Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Mohmand, Bajaur, Waziristan agencies), Islamabad, Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur divisions), upper Sindh (Larkana, Sukkur divisions), Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Sunday and Monday.

Isolated heavy falls are also expected in Islamabad, upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sahiwal divisions), KP (Malakand, Hazara, Dera Ismail Khan divisions) and Kashmir on both these days.

Scattered rain/thunderstorm is also expected in lower Sindh (Karachi, Hyderabad divisions) and adjoining coastal areas (Lasbela, Ormara) of Balochistan from Saturday to Sunday.

Rain may be accompanied by isolated hailstorm in sub-mountainous areas of the country during the period.
