LAHORE: Another westerly system is likely to enter the country on Wednesday night, generating more rains in several cities and snowfall over the hills during the next two days.
A shallow westerly trough that produced widespread rain, heavy at places, and snowfall over the hills over the past two days is persisting over upper parts of the country. Rain over the catchments of almost all rivers has increased their water level.
The inflow at Mangla increased from Monday’s 22,113 cusecs to 49,934 and at Tarbela from 20,700 cusecs to 27,500. The inflow of the river Kabul at Nowshera was 24,000 cusecs and of the river Chenab at Marala 22,463 cusecs.

According to the Met department, the fresh system may yield scattered to widespread thunderstorm / rain with snowfall over the hills associated with gusty winds. There are chances of isolated relatively heavy to heavy falls over Hazara, Rawalpindi (including Islamabad) and Gujranwala divisions, Fata, lower and central Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Wednesday night.
In the meantime, Lahore will remain partly cloudy with little chances of thunderstorm / rain during the night and fog on Wednesday morning.
Isolated to scattered thunderstorm/rain with snowfall over the hills along with strong winds are likely in Karachi, Faisalabad, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Rawalpindi (including Islamabad) divisions, northern Balochistan, Fata, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir in the next 24 hours. Isolated fog / mist will prevail over plains of Punjab and upper Sindh.
