GWADAR: Two police constables were killed and another was injured in a gun and rocket attack on the convoy of Khuzdar’s District Police Officer in Pasni on Saturday. Asghar Ali Yousafzai, the DPO, escaped unhurt in the attack.

Police said the DPO with members of his family was coming to Gwadar from Khuzdar in his official vehicle under police escort when his convoy came under attack in Shadi Core area of Pasni.

They said militants, who were apparently holed up in the area, first fired a rocket which hit one of the vehicles in the convoy and then opened indiscriminate fire, killing two constables and wounding another.

The assailants then fled the scene of the incident.

The bodies and the injured constable were taken to a hospital.

The deceased were identified as Rahmatullah and Inayatullah and the injured as Zafarullah.

Security personnel cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.

Mr Yousafzai’s family was coming to Gwadar to attend a marriage ceremony.

Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch condemned the attack. He directed the commissioner of Makran Division to send a report on the incident to him and issued directives for the arrest of people involved in the attack.

The chief minister expressed sorrow over the death of two constables.
