SAHIWAL: A fake faith healer deprived a family of cash and gold ornaments worth Rs1 million after intoxicating them at 69/6-R village, Katcha Paka Noor Shah Road.
Mahiwal had invited a ‘faith healer’ to stay in his house for a few days to ‘ward off evil’. The guest spent a week with the family and offered them sweetmeat on Friday night. All members of the family -- Mahiwal, 45 , his wife Kaneez Bibi, 40, two daughters Hajra, 22, and Jatti 25, and sons Shaban, 22, Ali Shan, 17, and Muhammad Ghafran, 16 -- fell unconscious. A Rescue 1122 team shifted them to the DHQ hospital.
Adnan Shams, media coordinator of Rescue 1122, told this correspondent that the victims were given heavy dose of some intoxicating drug.
The swindler made off with cash and ornaments and, according to a source, Mahiwal had even sold his car a few days ago on his advice.
