RAWALPINDI: The City District Government Rawalpindi (CDGR) on Wednesday formed 30 special teams to inspect the security arrangements in 496 private and public educational in the district identified as sensitive.

District Coordination Officer (DCO) Sajid Zafar Dall told Dawn that all elected members of national and provincial assemblies and district officials will inspect the security arrangements.

“If any school is found negligent in adopting the safety measure, the CDGR will seal the school,” he said.

The DCO added that he will himself inspect different schools in the district from Thursday (today).

He said that the provincial government in an effort to secure areas around the educational institutions has asked for surveys of neighborhoods to be conducted.

He added that the teams had been provided a checklist and would be reporting to the CDGR before Thursday evening. Parents would also be asked to report on their satisfaction with the security arrangements made by schools, he said.

The DCO said that after receiving the report, local police will check security arrangements and issue a warning letter against negligent schools.
