KARACHI: Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) secretary general Liaquat Baloch has said the people of Karachi want to have their political, democratic and economic rights and if the establishment and the state become neutral, the Karachiites would be able to elect their real representatives in a free and fair elections.

Addressing a press conference here at Idara Noor-i-Haq on Sunday, he said that then people would be able to solve their problems through civilized leadership.

Referring to the confrence held at the Minar-i-Pakistan last month, he said the system of government could be changed and replaced only by a durable and just dispensation through an organised team.

He said people were fed up with heiridatory politics and corrupt system and wanted a change; they wanted to have their rights restored. The Jamaat-i-Islami was with them in their struggle and the Dec 25th congregation at the Masoleum of Quaid-i-Azam at Karachi would give impetus to the struggle to achieve their rights.

Mr Baloch said massive participation of people in the congregations of Jamaat-i-Islami, Jamaat-ul-Dawa and Bahria Town Mosque in Lahore were the proof that no secular party could compete them. It was also a proof of the fact that majority of the countrymen wanted to enforce the constitution in the country in the true spirit of the Two Nation Theory and Islamic values.
