PESHAWAR: At least five suspected militants have been killed in a US drone strike on Thursday in North Waziristan.

Official sources say that the US drone fired two missiles on a compound in Datakhel tehsil of North Waziristan Agency.

Sources said that they have confirmation of five dead and also some injured. They said that the dead also includes a high value target.

North Waziristan is among Pakistan’s seven tribal districts near the Afghan border which are rife with homegrown insurgents and are alleged to be strongholds of Taliban and Al Qaeda operatives, among others.

Pakistan's military in mid-June had launched an all-out operation, named 'Zarb-i-Azb', against Taliban militants in the region which is still under way.

Drone attacks are widely unpopular across Pakistan and according to survey conducted in June this year, 66 per cent of the country's citizens oppose these strikes..

I am deeply disappointed by this. I was hoping sense would prevail in US circles. I really think Pakistan must just shoot 'em down at this point. They don't want diplomacy.

@Gullu B The Establishment,Military and the dirty politician survive on US AID. They cannot question their master. Can the COAS tell the US to stop. Russian invaded Ukraine but there were no drones for Russia. Now Russia is fee country.

Thank you USA, you made us show our reality. Even when our army chief Gen Rahil is with you, there by proving that we are still protecting terrorists inspite of Zerb e azb. Thereby proving Sartaz Aziz statement that we wont kill those terrorists who are attacking afghanistan.

All these drone attacks are taking place with the tacit approval of Pakistan government , beginning from the days of Musharraf. Every time there is a drone attack, it is always high level target . No one can verify how many non combatants are also killed.
