GUJRANWALA: Five people were arrested on Tuesday in Wazirabad for ransacking the office of the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra).

The arrested people were identified as Mudassar, Zia Mujahid, Ehetsham and Anas.

Dawn learned the people agitated over the rude behaviour of the officials.

KILLED: A woman died after consuming poisonous pills on Tuesday in Baghbanpura while her two minor children were being treated in hospital.

Police quoting Salman said his wife Sadaf, 30, had spiked milk with poison and administered it to her six-month-old son Ayan and two-and-a-half-year-old Rehan and later swallowed the pills. They were taken to the civil hospital where Sadaf died while the children were admitted to the intensive care unit.

Babghbanpura police registered a case against Salman and other family members without any arrest.

Police said Sadaf took the act of suicide and killing her children after her husband refused to arrange a separate house for her.

REPORT: The Punjab government sought on Tuesday the report of land and crops losses to farmers in floods.

The district administration has already forwarded reports regarding the losses incurred in recent floods in Gujranwala division but Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif decided to get the reports verified by validation committees consisting of senior officers of other district.

After the verification, farmers will be compensated for their losses in floods.

HELD: Wazirabad City and Saddar police arrested four proclaimed offenders and seized arms from them.

The arrested people are: Shahzad, Farhan, Sarfraz and Sajjad.
