Three more polio cases confirmed

ISLAMABAD: Three new cases of polio have been confirmed by the Polio Virology Laboratory at the National Institute of Health, raising the number for this year to 187.

According to an official of the national health services ministry, these cases have been reported from Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency in Federally Administered Tribal Areas. As many as 130 polio cases have been reported from Fata this year.

The newly affected children are: nine-month-old Aliya, daughter of Gulab Khan, 11-month-old Nadia, daughter of Faqir Hussain, and 13-month-old Hazir, son of Muqaddas.

Officials said Nadia had received only one dose of oral vaccine and the other two children had not received any dose.
