AG was entitled to a 1800cc car, so the Merc 1800, Audi 1800, BMW 1800 can be compared to Civic 1800 or a Corolla 1800! german makes are 4 times the local assembled civic or corolla! they should be more elaborate only non imported cars should be allowed! World over office provided cars are treated as benefit in kind and are taxed according to value of the car. Same rule should be applied to all Public and private sector car benefit, only then they will try to get smaller engine cars due to heavey tax deduction from salaries.

People are dying from hunger and they want Mercedes. I live in the US and I work for the US Federal Government. The Secratary of the USDA, Vilsack has only a simple Chevy SUV and one security car a Ford Crown Victoria which is about 4 years old. Total worth no more than $20,000. This man Vilsack can walk into the White House to talk to Obama anytime he wants. He controls $158 BILLION dollar budget. I have not seen him in any Mercedes or BMW. He runs on right next to me on the same treadmill I do. No VVIP workout rooms! This is why the US has the moral authority to treat us the way they do. Our leaders act like Pharos rather than servants. I work to serve the people that pay my salary not to get rich. I am ashamed that a PM will approve such nonsense. I was in INDIA in 1996 visiting an MPA who is my relative. He had an old Maruti and he and his driver and I ate from the same plate in AP house. I am praying that PTI does not give up and remove these thugs and thieves from there offices. BTW an 1800 cc BMW costs 10 times the price of a 2400cc KIA. So the limit should be price not cc. I think true opposition is a watch dog. They should raise such issues to the extent that every malpractice by politicians and government officials is brought to light and stopped instead of taking power in their hand. This way we will filter or correct the corrupts abusing government funds. This will be real Azadi and Inqalab. Please bring to light every case of corruption, bribery, and stealing power, gas, other resources by ordinary people as well if we want to save Pakistan. I wish every honest person in Pakistan, from Prime minister to ordinary citizen plays its part. This way we can bring peace and security to Pakistan.

Thanks to the public awareness and media attention to these issues there is something positive that came out of this issue.

Excellent..! Media doing its job right. NS should not have approved this but the system worked to prevent preferential treatment. That system is what IK is trying to destroy. If he succeeds, Pakistan will be like a sub-saharan African country.

Another AG ( Auditor General ) had himself gave raise of his salary, perks & benefits, travelling allowance ( though he gets monetization against transport ), more then any CJ.....case in judicial council as he failed to appear in front of PAC committee. This is what our bureaucrats does....they are equally responsible for the mess we are in today. They spoil & misguide our politicians to do corruption jointly....

best solution is to take away all perks and and dilute the powers of each of the elected and appointed offices in Pakistan so that the "taika", the power greed and the money do not attract the next generation of politicians but rather civil servants. Pakistan has no shortage of people willing to die for it. After 67 years we are left with lots of work to do so now Pakistan needs people to SERVE it.

why even 1800 cc.Isnt it a prank on us.A country where health ministry runs out of funds required to eradicate polio,where people die in Thar due to starvation,where inhabitants are deprived of chlorinated water,where mothers drown themselves in canals along with their children because the children ask for meal.If well-off rulers of such country indulge themselves in luxuries with the taxes of impoverished people,it is nothing else but a prank on poors.

Let's change the rules and all politicians should by law use only Pakistani me 1800cc cars. Only exception for higher cc Pakistani built cars is if it has to be bullet proofed. As for the current fleet of thousands of cars, let's auction them and our rich elite can buy them. But who will do it since all our politicians use such luxury cars, they will never vote to lose their luxury.

Public doesnt even have a respectful public transport system in most of country yet it pays the cronies for luxury cars. Such is the level of generosity of our poor tax payers.
