LAHORE: A man was shot dead allegedly by his relatives over a property dispute in Shadbagh on Tuesday.

Police said Khalil Ahmed, of Bhama Jhugian on Bund Road, had a dispute with his cousin, Abdul Majeed, over a 36-marla plot in the area.

The two sides held a council of elders or panchayat to resolve the dispute. Majeed’s sons Amir, Zahid and Shahid shot at Imran Khalil, the son of Khalil, after exchanging the words and fled.

Imran’s heirs placed the body on Ring Road near Niazi Interchange and blocked it for more than three hours in protest at the killing.

Senior police officials arrived at the scene and assured the protesters of justice. Convinced by the assurance, the protesters ended the blockade.

Police shifted the body to morgue for autopsy and registered a case against the three suspects.

Victim’s father Khalil told Dawnduring the fight they called the Emergency Police but no one came to save his son.

He alleged some policemen of Shadbagh were involved in the killing as they had failed to provide them protection.

Misri Shah Circle DSP Muhammad Akram denied the allegations.

DIES: A man, who was hospitalised with critical bullet injuries, died at hospital on Tuesday.

Police said Jameel, of Shah Noor Studios, and his nephew Mohsin had suffered bullet injuries when their neighbour Sajid opened indiscriminate fire on them.

They were rushed to Jinnah Hospital where Jameel succumbed to the wounds while the condition of Mohsin was stated to be stable.

Transferred: DIG (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf on Tuesday transferred and posted 11 Station House Officers (SHOs).

According to an official handout, SHO Manga Mandi Inspector Mustaneer was transferred to Sundar, Inspector Wasim Akhtar was as posted as Muslim Town SHO, Inspector Muhammad Akmal as Nishter Colony SHO, and Inspector Ehsanullah was sent to Kahna.

The DIG also posted sub-inspectors as additional SHOs. He appointed SI Atif Zulfikar at Sabzazar, SI Muhammad Ramzan at Manga Mandi, SI Muhammad Ali Butt at Defence, SI Muhammad Raza at Shadbagh, SI Asim Rafi at Shahdara, SI Nasir Khan at Badami Bagh and sent SI Ahmed Usman to police lines from Nishter Colony.
