Tankers during peak hours

Sir,

Heavy oil and water tankers have been observed on the roads for the last several days, especially during office hours and at 8am, which is school time. The traffic authorities have turned a blind eye to this. Can some authority set a dedicated time for their movement, which used to be the case in the past?

Open manhole

Sir,

I am a resident of North Karachi Sector 11-A. A manhole in our street has been left open for the last few weeks and we are facing a lot of inconvenience because of this.

I have complained many times through the 1339 number, but nothing has been done. Plus an empty plot in our locality has been filled with garbage. I have also emailed the CM Secretariat and the MNA of our constituency but to no avail.

I request the authorities concerned to solve these problems on an urgent basis as the open manhole can lead to a fatal accident.

Hospital mismanagement

Sir,

I would like to draw the attention of the authorities concerned to the irritating behaviour of the staff at the Sindh Government Hospital, North Karachi.

Many doctors and paramedical staff do not treat people in a humane manner. The first duty of a doctor is to concentrate on the patient, but at this facility they are busy talking either on mobile phones or with colleagues.

The entrance of medical representatives is banned in the hospital, but a lot of representatives are seen in front of the hospital and connected with doctors via mobile phone. Bundles of medicine are available in the hospital but many physicians do not prescribe the available medicine and the patient is compelled to buy drugs from the medical store. It is noted that most of the patients are from poor families and cannot afford expensive medicines.

I request the authorities concerned to kindly look into the matter and ease the people’s burden.

In cahoots?

Sir,

In spite of such an acute water shortage in almost all the areas, building projects, which need a huge amount of water, are in full swing throughout Karachi.

Somewhere, we smell a rat. Are the KBCA and KWSB in league with each other?

Leaking gas line

Sir,

The main gas line, which is connected with meters in front of our flat on the first floor, has become rusty and is leaking. I have complained on 1199 many times and someone from SSGC did visit two months ago, but nothing has been done yet. We are very frightened because of this situation. My nephew has also visited the local SSGC office, but to avail.

I appeal to the SSGC authorities to rectify this problem as soon as possible.

Dangerous crossing

Sir,

Due to heavy traffic during morning and evening office hours, it has become almost impossible to cross the main road for pedestrians at Five Star Chowrangi, North Nazimabad. Many accidents occur at this spot, some of which are fatal, caused mainly by speeding motorists and motorcyclists.

Despite traffic signals, drivers fail to stop. There are also many hit-and-run accidents here, especially at night. It has also been observed that motorcyclists drive without their headlights on at night, which is another major cause of accidents.

The city administration is, therefore, requested to look into the matter and help prevent road accidents and injuries by installing a pedestrian bridge either at the bus stop or near the crossing urgently.

Filthy road

Sir,

I want to draw the attention of the administration of the DC Office, District Central, towards the filthy and dilapidated service road of North Nazimabad, Block N, just opposite the DC Office.

The condition of the service road is too horrible to drive through. One can easily see litter and polythene bags spread about here and there. A street cleaner comes regularly in the morning to clean the main road but then throws the garbage on the service road instead of disposing it properly.

The administration of District Central is requested to take remedial action urgently.
