QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly on Thursday unanimously adopted the Balochistan Prohibition of Private Money Lending Bill, 2014.

The bill was tabled by Minister for Information and Law Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal during the assembly session presided over by Speaker Mir Jan Mohammad Jamali. Several lawmakers lauded the passage of the bill aimed at eradicating usury from society.

They said private money lending business had destroyed hundreds of families in the province, adding that making money from usury was prohibited in Islam.

The session was adjourned to Saturday.
