LAHORE: A three-member committee has been constituted to probe the fire that destroyed articles of the store and partially damaged office of the Inspector of Works (IOW) at the Pakistan Railways headquarters in Lahore on Tuesday.

Comprising assistant secretary to PR general manager (operations), assistant electric engineer and assistant engineer, the committee has been asked to submit a report within three days.

Condemned furniture lying in the IOW store caught fire at around 3am on Tuesday. The railways administration was informed about the incident after an hour when flames had engulfed the adjacent IOW office. Firefighters put the flames out after one and a half hours.
