MUZAFFARABAD: Two persons drowned after the car they were travelling in plunged into a raging water channel in Neelum Valley on Friday.

Akseer Shaikh (driver) and Naseer Shaikh were coming from Kutton village to Kundal Shahi when the vehicle veered off the narrow track and fell into Jagran Nullah at about 4:45pm, a police official told Dawn.

The wreckage of the vehicle was partly visible, but the bodies of both persons were instantly swept away by the violent current, he said.

The Jagran Nullah merges into Neelum River in the town of Kundal Shahi, some 70 kilometres northeast of here.

The bodies could not be fished out till the filing of this report.
