DERA MURAD JAMALI: A senior official of the Municipal Committee Sohabtpur was robbed of cash and valuables near Bakhtiarabad in Sibi district on Monday, Levies sources said.

Chief Municipal Officer Khairullah Jatak was returning from Quetta after an official tour when highwaymen stopped his vehicle and deprived him of cash, mobile phone and other valuables, they added.

A case was registered against the unidentified robbers.

In a separate incident, an attempt to stop a truck in Bakhtiarabad area and rob the driver was foiled, Levies sources said.

Mohammad Usman was driving his truck from Dera Murad Jamali to Quetta when suspected robbers opened fire at it in order to stop it. However, a Frontier Corps patrol fired back, forcing the assailants to escape.

The Levies Force started investigation into the incident.
