KASUR: Villagers attacked a police team after it arrested an alleged proclaimed offender from the area on Tuesday.

The villagers got the culprit released, and police registered a case against 25 suspects, including 20 unidentified.

Manga Mandi police team headed by SI Muhammad Afzal raided a hideout and arrested an alleged proclaimed offender in Chah Chohanawala village. Villagers attacked police with clubs and weapons, tore their uniform and got the PO released.

The police team left the village. Later, on the complaint of the SI, Sarai Mughal police registered a case with no arrests so far.

FAKE MONEY: B Division police on Tuesday arrested two suspects for allegedly printing fake currency and seized fake notes worth Rs1.2 million as well as printing paper worth Rs2.5 million.

District Police Officer Jawad Qamar told the media following a tip-off that some suspects were printing fake currency in a factory at Kamal Chowk, he constituted a team headed by Inspector Muhammad Farid. The team raided the factory and arrested Abdul Ghafoor and Muhamamd Yousaf. Police also claimed to have seized fake currency worth Rs1.2 million and paper worth Rs2.5 million and other raw material.

The suspects, according to police, purchased a special paper from Lahore, used chemicals to make it look real and sold Rs100,000 worth of currency for Rs25,000. The DPO said other members of the gang had been traced and would be arrested soon.
