KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly will resume its business on Monday after a two-day break and unlike Friday when Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani had to adjourn the proceedings for lack of quorum the opposition is not going to give another chance to the government to escape from the discussion on the law and order situation in the province.

On Friday, the decision of the chair to start the business at the scheduled time was a surprise action for the opposition parties in the assembly.

However, sources close to the opposition parties told Dawn that they had formulated their strategy to ensure their presence in the house on Monday before the speaker/deputy speaker occupy the chair and call the house in order.

The order of the day include the question-hour on the women development department, five call attention notices, a privilege motion of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf lawmaker Khurran Sherzaman and an adjournment motion of PTI’s Syed Hafeezuddin.

Introduction of two government bills — The Sindh Criminal Prosecution Service (Constitution, function & powers) and The Sindh Shaheed Recognition and Compensation Bill, 2014 — are also included in the order of the day.

Another item on the agenda is the presentation of a report of the special committee on government bills — The Sindh Child Marriages Restraint Bill, 2014 and The Child Marriage Prohibition Bill, 2014.

It is also believed that the opposition will also raise the issue of an armed attack on senior journalist Hamid Mir in the house.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah had said that on Monday the government would discuss in the house the law and order situation in the backdrop of the ongoing targeted operation in Karachi.
