TANK: At least two people were killed and three others wounded on Sunday in an incident of firing by unknown gunmen in the Gomal Zaman area of Tank district, DawnNews reported.

Meanwhile, a powerful explosion occurred near a contingent of security forces in Datta Khel district of North Waziristan.

However, all the security personnel remained safe and no causalities were reported in the incident.

Several cars sustained minor damages due to the intensity of the blast.

Moreover, security personnel began a search operation in the area after the attack.

North Waziristan is one of the seven regions in Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) governed by tribal laws. An extremist insurgency led by the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) plagues the region and the area is known to be infested with militants, including those from Al Qaeda and other armed extremist organisations.
