ISLAMABAD: The capital police on Thursday succeeded in persuading Malakand police to receive a complaint lodged by the defence minister for registration of a case against a Naib Subedar and others for their alleged involvement in disappearance of seven people.

Earlier, Assistant Sub-Inspector of Secretariat police Saleem Raza was sent to the Katlang police station in Mardan to hand over the complaint.

Police officials told Dawn that the ASI had been directed that if the police station refused to receive the complained he should approach Malakand police.

The ASI reached the Katlang police station in the wee hours of Thursday, but he was advised to submit the complaint to the Malakand police station because the persons had been taken away from the Malakand internment centre.

In the meantime, a senior officer of the capital police approached the supervisory officer of Malakand and requested him to receive the complaint and make it part of their official record.

The post commander of the police station received the complaint from the ASI and gave him a receipt, the officials said.

The ASI returned to Islamabad and handed over the receipt to the SHO Secretariat police. It was later submitted to the Supreme Court.
