PTA and SIMs

Published January 14, 2014

THIS is apropos the PTA announcement (Dec 31) about the new SIM selling process. It has been mentioned that people should carry the original CNIC when getting a new connection for verification purpose.

However, the implementation of biometric system at service centres and franchises of different mobile network operators enables people not to carry the original CNIC for having a new connection.

One cannot get a new SIM unless he/she should not go through the biometric system. So, carrying the original CNIC makes no point due to the law and order situation. The PTA should rectify the published instructions.
