KARACHI: At least eight people, including six Lyari gang war suspects, were killed Friday in Karachi, DawnNews reported.

Six Lyari gang war suspects were shot dead and their bodies were discovered in the Pak Colony area of Old Golimar near Rexer Bridge.

The deceased persons belonged to Lyari's Uzair Baloch group. They were identified as Rizwan Baloch, Shahzad, Sajid alias Mithal, Amir Baloch, Gulzar and Dilawar Pathan respectively.

According to the police, the six men were abducted on Thursday and then gunned down.

Their bodies were shifted to Karachi’s Civil Hospital.

Later, the bodies of the deceased persons were shifted to their residences in Pak Colony by the police without post-mortems examinations.

According to the police, the killings were due to an ongoing rivalry between Lyari's Uzair Baloch and Baba Ladla groups.

Following news of the killings, panic spread in Lyari and businesses were shut down.

Meanwhile, an alleged suspect in the attack on former Station House Officer (SHO) of Mauripur Shafiq Tanoli succumbed to his wounds in a hospital today.

Separately, a seven-year-old girl was killed when unknown persons lobbed a hand-grenade at a house on Khalid Bin Waleed Road in the city’s Ferozabad area. Police claimed that the attackers were extortionists and wanted to extort money from the owner of the house.

Meanwhile, Rangers’ personnel conducted operations in the areas of Sharafi Goth, Ibrahim Hyderi, Korangi, Landhi, Old Sabzi Mandi, Baldia Town, Malir and other areas of the city and detained 25 suspects.

Moreover, weapons were also recovered from the possession of the detained suspects.

Karachi, the largest metropolitan city of Pakistan, is riddled with targeted killings, gang wars, kidnappings for ransom, extortion and terrorism. Targeted operations led by Rangers’ forces with the support of police are ongoing in the city under a directive issued by the federal government against criminals already identified by federal, military and civilian agencies.
