CM presents Rs198.395 bn budget for Balochistan

QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan Dr Abdul Malik Baloch Thursday presented budget for the financial year 2013-14 with total outlay of Rs198.395 billion in the provincial assembly.

A deficit of Rs7.94 billion has been reflected in the budget. However, Rs43. 913 billion have been allocated for development projects.

The newly elected government has allocated 154.482 billion rupees for non-development expenditures.

Dr Baloch informed the house that funds allocation for education sector has been increased from 4.22 per cent to 23.13 per cent. Similarly, the budget for health sector has been increased from 2.63 per cent to 9.21 per cent.

He said more than Rs34 billion have been allocated for education sector to provide quality education to students, adding that funds for law and order has been increased to more than 16 billion rupees as compared to 13 billion in the previous budget.

The chief minister also announced an increase of 15 per cent for government employees in the budget.

Dr Baloch has reiterated that without the recovery of missing persons and an end to recovery of mutilated dead bodies, peace in Balochistan was not possible.

He hailed the statement of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan about the latter's statement regarding Balochistan. The Balochistan CM expressed optimism that terrorism would be defeated through the support of masses in Balochistan.
