CHARSADDA/Kohat, Dec 16: Six people were killed by rivals in Charsadda and Kohat over old enmity.

Three people were gunned down outside a local mosque after Friday prayers in Tarnab area on the outskirts of Charsadda city.Wesal, son of Majeedullah of Tarnab, told police that he, his brother Shahabullah, cousin Bahrullah and friend Wesal were fired at by Aftab, a proclaimed offender, and Asif while stepping out of the mosque.

He said Bahrullah died instantly, while Shahabullah and Wesal succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital.

Police and locals blamed the attack on an old enmity.

According to them, Shakirullah, father of Bahrullah, had killed two brothers, Iqbal Hussain and Hazrat Hussain, at the same mosque in 1995 over a property dispute. Later in 2005, Aftab, son of Hazrat Hussain, gunned down Shakirullah at the same mosque to avenge the killing of his father and uncle. Police later declared him a proclaimed offender.

As for Kohat killings, three persons, including two brothers, were killed in an armed clash between two groups in Mandoori area of Lachi tehsil on Friday. Two persons were also injured in the clash. The two groups had an old enmity. Dawn

The Lachi police told Usman Badshah and his brother Ahmed Shah belonging to one group and Bahadar Shah from rival side were killed.

The injured were identified as Ishaq and a passerby Fareed.

The police said the accused from both the parties managed to escape, however, raids were being conducted at various places for their arrest.

The police registered a cross FIR on the complaint of both the groups and launched investigations.
