India warns of setback in ties with US

WASHINGTON, March 30: Indian Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran warned on Thursday of a setback in US-India ties if Congress refuses to ratify a civilian nuclear deal reached between leaders of the two countries.

The US legislature has to give mandatory approval to the landmark nuclear agreement but lawmakers are reportedly sceptical as India has refused to sign the NPT and has developed nuclear weapons on its own.—AFP
