Provinces agree to conduct studies: Water resources, environment issues

ISLAMABAD, Dec 16: The chairman of the parliamentary committee on water and power, Senator Nisar Ahmed Memon, said on Tuesday that provinces had agreed to conduct studies on water resources and environment concerns aimed at resolving the issues pertaining to the water sector.

Addressing a press conference after chairing a meeting of the committee, he said that all the provinces had agreed on the Terms of References (TORs) to conduct the study on water resources.

Water and Power Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao and provincial irrigation ministers participated in the meeting.

The chairman said a steering committee for implementation would monitor the study and added that decisions would be taken with consensus of all the provinces. The expressions of interest received for two studies would be processed immediately, he said.—APP
