RAWALPINDI, Nov 14 The Divisional Development Working Party (DDWP) Rawalpindi on Saturday approved 16 development projects worth Rs191 million for Rawalpindi, Jhelum and Chakwal districts.

According to a press release, Commissioner Rawalpindi Zahid Saeed presided over the meeting held here at Commissioner Office. Director Development Rawalpindi Noreen Bashir, officials of Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) and public health departments of Rawalpindi, Jhelum and Chakwal attended the meeting.

The Divisional Development Working Party approved five development projects of Wasa in the areas of NA-55 and 54 Rawalpindi. Under these projects, the Wasa would rehabilitate six tube wells in Khyaban-e-Sir Syed near Executive District Officer (EDO) Health office, Khyaban-e-Sir Syed Sector II, Khyaban-e-Sir Syed Sector IV, Union Council No. I near Bhoosa Godown, Union Council No 3 near Government Girls College Hazara Colony and Union Council No 45 near Tipu Road.

The DDWP approved the project of Wasa to construct overhead water reservoirs in different areas and change rusty and outdated water supply lines and sewerage lines in different localities in NA-55 and NA-54.

It also approved the project to lay new water supply lines and sewerage lines in PP-9 and PP-13 in Rawalpindi Cantonment.

Under the project, new water supply and sewerage lines would be laid in Lalkurti, Riazabad, Chaklala Cantonment, Mubarik Lane, Kotha Khurd, Walayat Colony and some other areas in cantonment.

It gave go ahead to upgradation of the basic health unit to rural health centre in Basharat, Tehsil Choan Syedan Shah in Chakwal district.
