LIMA A quake of 6.0 magnitude struck Peru late on Tuesday, the United States Geological Survey said, but there were no reports of injuries or damages.

The quake hit 81 miles north northwest of Moyobamba and 480 miles north of Lima. It was relatively deep at 78 miles.

The epicenter was located far away from most large mines in Peru, a leading minerals exporter.

Twitter messages sent to RPP, Perus main radio station, by residents in the region said the quake was felt in the cities of Chimbote and Chiclayo but that there were no signs of damages. —Reuters
