PFF National Football League kicks off in June

LAHORE The National Football Championship 2009 would begin in June, the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) announced.

 

The PFF has finalised fourteen teams for Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) 2009. It has decided to retain top twelve teams of PPFL 2008 plus top two teams of PFF League 2008 for the event that will kick-off the 55th National Football Championship of Pakistan.

 

WAPDA, Pakistan Army, Khan Research Laboratories (KRL), National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), Karachi Port Trust (KPT), Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Pakistan Navy, Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC), Habib Bank Limited (HBL), Chamans Afghan Club, Faisalabads Punjab Medical College and Lahores Pak Elektron Limited (PEL) have qualified for the coming 182-match marathon league by virtue of finishing among the top twelve in the last edition of PPFL 2008.

 

National Club Champions 2006 Nushkis Baloch FC and former National Champion Pakistan Air Force (PAF) will complete the numbers being the top two teams of PFF League 2008.

 

Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) will be hot contender for upcoming event. The winner of the National Football Championship will earn the right to play in sixth AFC Presidents Cup 2010.

 

The draws of the National Football Championship will be issued to the participating teams and technical officials later this month.
