MQM to field candidates across Pakistan, says Altaf

LAHORE: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Saturday said that his party would field candidates in all constituencies of the country in the upcoming general elections, DawnNews reported.

Speaking to workers at MQM Punjab House Lahore via telephone from London, he ordered the central executive and zonal committees of party’s Punjab chapter to formulate a list of potential candidates for the province.

The meeting also expressed concerns over worsening law and order situation of Punjab through a resolution.

Reiterating his stand on a separate province for the people of Southern Punjab, Hussain said that a separate province is a deep-rooted demand of the masses and vowed to continue his party’s efforts towards achieving the goal.

He said the working class would be offered electoral tickets without seeking party funds from the candidates and their election campaigns would be financed by the MQM.

The MQM chief also called on the committees to restructure the party according to values of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Moreover, he also appealed philanthropists to donate for setting up the party’s Islamabad office.
