Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany was born on October 13, 1950 in Lahore. He received an undergraduate degree from University of Peshawar and LLB from University of Punjab. He later went to the United Kingdom for obtaining LLM from University of London.

Osmany has also worked in a law firm in the United States and specialises in international trade and banking. He currently works as a Judge in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
