LARKANA, Jan 20: Some miscreants blew up a gas transmission pipeline early on Thursday near Tangwani. The damaged pipeline supplies gas to Karachi.

Chief Engineer (Transmission) of the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) Ghazi Anwar Kerio confirmed the incident and said that some 40 feet pipeline was blasted by the miscreants at about 6.30am in village Hajano near Tangwani.

The SSGC authorities immediately switched over transmission to Shikarpur station since there are three alternate lines. The chief engineer said that the damaged portion was being repaired which would be restored within 24 to 36 hours. He also hinted at registering an FIR at the concerned police station.

Deputy Inspector General of Police, Larkana range, Din Muhammed Baloch said that a remote control device was used to blow the pipeline. Some suspects had been rounded he said and alleged that Bugtis were behind the blast. The incident was being probed, he said, and termed it an act of sabotage. Reports said that the blast left a 20 feet crater.
