Passionate and thought-provoking art

Karachi: Hoping to encourage positive thoughts when there is a plethora of negative news in the country, the alumni exhibit at the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture brings together 43 artists showcasing art that is hopefully, inspiring for its viewers.

The 3rd Alumni Collective is slated to open on Friday, December 10 at the IVS Gallery on campus. The show will run through until December 31.

“Expectation from the show at the very basic level is that it will make someone’s day – something much needed in this day and age? And the loftier expectation is that it will give people something to believe in, in terms of the fact that there are people who are sensitive, attuned and trying to make statements which will bolster spirits,” says Sara Jamil, a member of the IVS Alumni Association.

Building on the theme of how each individual can be part of something bigger, something significant and passionate, and how “art inspires change,” the exhibit will also include a performance titled Soundscapes by Orangenoise on the opening day.

Judging by the response to last year’s alumni exhibit, the bar has been set very high. For art aficionados and enthusiasts, some of the works displayed will also be for sale and can be commissioned as well.
