Woman stands firm on charge against Mannu Bheel
HYDERABAD, Aug 2: A hari woman, Meena, wife of Keval, who had lodged a case against Mannu Bheel and others for attempted sexual assault, staged a protest demonstration outside the press club demanding arrest of the culprits.
She denied that she had lodged the case at the behest of Abdul Rehman Mari -- the prime accused in the kidnapping case of Mannu Bheel’s family members.
Meena along with another hari woman staged a token hunger strike and protest demonstration.
Holding a placard, the woman said that the accused of her case should be arrested.
She said that she had been living in Usman Sipyo as she was working in onion fields there. She said she was continuously being harassed by Mannu Bheel and others. She said she was not living in Sikandarbad hari camp for past two months.
On the other hand Mannu Bheel claimed that the case was lodged against him at the behest of Abdul Rehman Mari.
He claimed that Kotri police had disposed of a similar application of Meena which contained similar charges against him.He denied that he was involved in any such case.
The Mannu Bheel case took new turn when Tando Jam police lodged a case against the peasant on Meena’s complaint. The woman claimed that Mannu Bheel and other men had tried to sexually assault her. But over her hue and cry they had ran away. Mannu Bheel denies the charges.
ACID ATTACK: Residents of Noorani basti staged a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Saturday to protest against an acid throwing incident in their area and Pinyari police’s reluctance to arrest the culprits.
The residents included Zahooran whose son, Mohammad Yasin had been admitted to the civil hospital’s burns ward after two men -- Sharif and Haneef-- had allegedly thrown acid on him.
The protesting women raised slogans against the Pinyari police.
They said that Yasin had objected when Haneef and Sharif were keeping their goats inside the Farooqe Azam Masjid in their colony.
They claimed that when he objected to it the accused got annoyed and said that they would teach him a lesson. Then they threw acid on him and he had been admitted to hospital. The protesters said the police were not arresting the culprits.
