KARACHI: A suspected robber was killed by the firing of his accomplice during an encounter with police in DHA on Saturday.

Police said that two armed robbers were looting citizens in Phase II when a police patrol arrived there. On seeing the law enforcers, the robbers resorted to firing and attempted to flee. In an ensuing exchange of gunfire, one armed man, later identified as Zeeshan Manzoor, was killed.

The police claimed he was killed by the firing carried out by his accomplice.

One pistol and a snatched cell phone were recovered from his custody.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.

Suspect shot dead in Quaidabad ‘encounter’

The Quaidabad police on Saturday claimed to have shot dead a suspected robber in an alleged encounter.

Area SHO Gulzar Ali Tunio said the shootout took place near Landhi railway station.

The killed suspect was identified as Shabbir alias Chota. He was a close aide of another killed suspect, Shabbir alias Chandana, who was killed by Shah Latif Town police in an encounter, added the SHO.

The police obtained the CCTV footage, in which the killed suspect was seen robbing people.
