KARACHI: A sessions court on Thursday acquitted alleged drug baroness Anmol alias Pinky in three narcotics cases registered at Gizri police station.

The three cases were registered in 2020, 2021 and 2022, and she had been declared an absconder.

After hearing the application filed by Anmol Pinky through her counsel before the Additional District and Sessions Judge (South), Irshad Hussain, under Section 265-K, the court allowed the three separate applications and acquitted her in the cases.

“I am considered opinion that this is a fit case for exercising powers under Section 265-K CrPC. This would not only save the valuable time of the court but would also relieve the present/ accused from unnecessary hardship,” the court observed.

The court also directed the women jail authorities to release her if she is not required in any other case. However, she will remain in jail as over a dozen cases are still pending before the courts.

During the arguments, her counsel contended that she had been named in the cases based on statements made by the co-accused, who had subsequently been acquitted.

“Following the acquittal of the co-accused, there can be no case for conviction for the accused (Pinky),” the lawyer said.

According to one of the court orders, Pinky was named in a 2021 case by two accused arrested for possessing narcotics, who claimed that she had supplied the drugs to them.

A supplementary charge sheet submitted by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) last month revealed that Pinky had over a dozen cases registered against her.

She was arrested in May 2026 in connection with two cases registered at the Garden police station pertaining to the possession of drugs and an unlicensed weapon. She had already been booked in multiple other criminal cases prior to her arrest.

The incident gained attention when a video of her being escorted to court without handcuffs went viral on social media.
