RAWALPINDI: Search and rescue operation resumed on Sunday to find the five-year-old girl who is suspected to have been swept away in an open drain near Committee Chowk, Lunda Bazaar, on Thursday.

The missing girl’s family has announced a reward of Rs500,000 for the person who traces the missing girl and informs the aggrieved family.

The girl’s father was putting the children in the car to depart for their home in the early hours of Thursday when Hareem Ali vanished from the scene.

“The girl was standing near my car but when he turned towards the car door to unlock it, he found his daughter missing,” the girl’s father said in a statement.

According to Rescue 1122, detailed search was conducted again in a specific area ofabout 50 feet near the crime scene.

The missing girl’s father, Umair Ali, said the nullah was not visible due to accumulated rainwater. However, he did not believe his daughter had drowned, suspecting that she might have been taken away by someone.

Despite a detailed search, the missing girl could not be found after which the search and rescue operation was concluded on Sunday, the Rescue 1122 spokesman said.

The police have also viewed the Safe City cameras but could not find any trace of the missing girl as there was accumulated rainwater in the street when the girl went missing.

The police have also recorded the statements of the night watchman of the area to check the possibility of kidnapping but there were no such circumstances, a police official who was taking part in the search operation said.
