QUETTA: Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) Central Senior Vice President Advocate Sajid Tareen has condemned a raid by plainclothes personnel on the Karachi residence of party chief Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal and the arrest of 13 people, including his manager, demanding their immediate release.
Addressing a press conference at the Quetta Press Club on Saturday, Mr Tareen warned that the party would launch a protest movement and approach the courts if the detainees were not released.
Mr Tareen alleged that plainclothes personnel raided Mr Mengal’s residence early on Friday morning and arrested 13 employees, subjecting them to violence.
He described the action as an “attempt to pressure the BNP-M leadership over its political position and silence the party’s voice”.
