KASUR: A Rescue 1122 ambulance staff was allegedly robbed on the Chunian-Changa Manga Road on Sunday morning at 3am by unidentified robbers.
According to the police, an ambulance was on its way to Chunian from Lahore after shifting a patient to the Lahore General Hospital when five masked suspects stopped the ambulance near the Changa Manga forest.
According to the complainant, the robbers had erected a picket and were looting motorists. The complainant claimed the robbers took Rs20,000 cash, ATM cards and documents from rescuers Muhammad Azam and Anjum Ali. The robbers escaped into the forest after the crime, they said. Police were looking into the matter.
DROWNS: A child drowned while bathing in a ditch full of rainwater in Basti Sabri on Sunday.
The incident took place near a brick kiln where rainwater had accumulated in a ditch dug for soil to make bricks.
According to the police, Usman (7) was bathing in the water near his house and drowned after venturing into deep water. When the family members and villagers learnt about the incident, they rushed to the spot to rescue the boy. Victim’s father Ghulam Rasool also jumped into the pond to save his son. Locals rescued the father and fished out the body of the victim. Police handed over the body of the child to the bereaved family after legal formalities.
