UMERKOT: The body of a 15-year-old youth, Kirshan, son of Dewan, was exhumed under the supervision of a judicial magistrate here on Thursday on a court order after his family members contested the police claim that the deceased had died by suicide.
A special medical board, headed by Additional
Medical Superintendent Dr Muhammad Tahir Qureshi was constituted by the Liaquat University Hospital, Jamshoro to conduct a post-mortem examination.
The youth’s body was found hanging from a tree near his residence in Ali Mohammad Palli Harh village after he had apparently gone missing on May 13. His family had then refused to get a post-mortem performed before his burial.
A few days later, the family moved a court to claim that Kirshan was actually murdered as some of his vital organs were found mutilated. They believed that the alleged murder was committed in the name of honour.
A murder FIR (No. 23/2026) was accordingly registered against the nominated suspects. They included a neighbour and immediate relations of a girl, whom the youth used to visit frequently despite objection by her parents.
One of the suspects, Sajan Reejhu, was arrested on the charges of kidnapping and killing Kirshan. The suspect was later granted bail.
