ISLAMABAD: Retired employees of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) on Friday stated that their two months’ pension is pending, and the delay in release has been causing immense financial hardship.

Pensioners said that many of them depend solely on their monthly pension to meet their basic needs, medical expenses, and household obligations.

They demanded Interior Provincial Coordination (IPC) minister and secretary take steps for the release of their pensions. Pensioners said that they are retired employees of PSB who have been receiving their pensions regularly since 2006 without any objection or adverse observation from any competent forum, including the Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP), commercial auditors, Ministry of Finance, and Ministry of IPC.

“This long-standing practice reflects the legitimacy and transparency of the pension system that has remained in place for nearly two decades. In its 34th Board Meeting, the Board approved the implementation of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) in accordance with the federal government’s policy with effect from 1st July, 2025.

Accordingly, monthly deductions at the rate of 10pc of the basic pay are being made from serving employees, while existing pensioners are contributing at the prescribed rate, which is to be enhanced to 20 per cent upon attaining the age of 72 years.
