STUDENTS DESERVE FACILITIES: Students in other countries receive certain benefits, including discounted or free public transportation. Unfortunately, in our country, such support for students is either very limited or completely absent. Another issue is the lack of consistency in transportation fares. Every vehicle charges a different fare. At many bus-stops and terminals, drivers receive free meals, while ordinary passengers are forced to pay two to three times the normal price for basic necessities. Even using a wash-room often requires paying a fee. The government should address all these issues. Students deserve the support and opportunities they need, and ordinary citizens deserve fair treatment as well.

BARRIERS ON ROADS: The commuters travelling from Liaquatabad towards Nazimabad Petrol Pump and Habib Bank Quarter in Karachi face significant difficulties due to barriers erected at both locations. At the Habib Bank Quarter roundabout, the right-side diversion road leading to SITE areas, Banaras and Orangi Town is blocked by barriers. As a result, drivers trying to turn right are forced to take a longer route, causing delays and inconvenience. The cemented barriers must be immediately removed to restore the road to its original state. Besides, policemen must be deployed at the roundabout to regulate traffic, alleviate congestion and improve travel times.

BLOCKING WATERWAYS: Iran has warned of blocking additional waterways after the United States launched fresh strikes. As Bab al-Mandeb handles around 12 per cent of global trade and nearly a third of container traffic, a full closure with the help of Houthis can jeopardise the mediation efforts by Pakistan and Qatar, and risk the global economy at large. Washington must realise that a collective regional security framework is required to ensure long-term stability rather than relying on isolated, uncoordinated military strikes by individual nations.
