HYDERABAD: Qaumi Awami Tehreek (QAT) President Ayaz Latif Palijo has asserted that the people of Sindh will never compromise on the integrity of the province.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the QAT chief said that the 80m-strong population of Sindh would resist all forms of injustice and oppression. He alleged that those advocating the creation of new provinces are actually hatching a conspiracy against the country, adding that individuals who historically act as pawns for the establishment are now attempting to incite hatred among the public.
Mr Palijo emphasised that Sindh has served as the homeland of Sindhis for thousands of years. He remarked that those raising the issue of new provinces must remember that Sindhis number 80 million — not merely 40,000 to 50,000 — and will resist any division of the province until their last breath. Should such a step be attempted, he warned, a new chapter of historic resistance would be written.
He maintained that Sindh would demonstrate exemplary unity against any assault on its territorial integrity, asserting that political forces in the province would stand united. Dictators have failed to subdue Sindh in the past, he noted, and times have now changed entirely.
The QAT president criticised certain political figures for demanding a new province, describing such calls as inimical to the nation’s interests.
