ISLAMABAD: The government has approved a uniform system for issuing police clearance certificates and international driving permits nationwide, with both services being made fully online through the National Police Bureau.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who visited the National Police Bureau on Tuesday to chair an important meeting, said the new system would facilitate citizens, particularly those traveling abroad.

“Police clearance certificates will now be issued by the National Police Bureau,” Mr Naqvi said. “The complicated process for police clearance certificates has now been made fast and completely online. Citizens will be able to obtain them from home through the NPB portal.”

The minister also directed authorities to formulate a uniform system for International Driving Permits.

“The uniform system for police clearance certificates and international driving permits will make it easier for citizens going abroad,” he added.

The interior minister said making the National Police Bureau an “active and dynamic institution” was a government priority.

Earlier, Mr Naqvi inspected renovation work at the NPB building. Director General National Police Bureau gave him a detailed briefing on ongoing reforms and digital initiatives. The meeting began with tributes to all police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, on the occasion of Youm-i-Police Shuhada.
